Darrell Peck's Latest Trip To Lake Bled, Slovenia Is A Big Score For Korda's Latest Thinking Tackle! Using His MK8 Power Porter, Darrell Peck Makes Fishing In Lake Bled Look Easy...
"Big carp" machine Darrell Peck recently visited Slovenia to film for a forthcoming Korda Thinking Tackle video.
“Lake Bled has been on my bucket list for a very long time” Darrell told us. For those unfamiliar with Slovenia’s Lake Bled - it’s 300 acres in size, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, and certainly wouldn’t look out of place in a Disney film.
Long Days and Long Distance
Due to its popularity the fishing is extremely limited, with just 10 carp fishing permits sold each day. With fishing taking place from one hour before sun rise to 11pm each day, which makes for lots of early mornings and late nights for traveling anglers wishing to string a few days together. The parking at this beautiful venue is far from ideal, it’s one of biggest problems carp anglers will face, and often the parking spaces can be located a very long way from some of the best fishing areas.
“During my 8 days at Bled I kept my Power Porter loaded within my van overnight, and simply charged the battery every couple of days back at our accommodation. Having the MK8 Power Porter electric barrow was BIG edge and made light work long daily walks to and from the designated parking areas.” Darrell told us.
Keeping Your Gear Dry
The trip was genuinely full of challenges due to the lakes size (6km if you wanted to do a lap), accessibility and strict rules, so it was important Darrell could fish from his barrow with ease and keep everything dry in the horrendous weather they had during their visit. The DPM Barrow Cover ensured that all his gear stayed dry on the move and when in the swim it acted as the perfect alternative to a shelter to house everything.
Staying Agile, On The Move
Although Lake Bled may only be a dream to some anglers, the approach to fishing a large venue and using your Power Porter to your advantage can be applied anywhere. Fishing from the barrow and making long walks to move swims really is an edge when utilised. Those moves made easy can be the difference between making the effort and capitalising on showing fish at bite time.
Darrell uses the Power Porter MK 8 and compliments this with a Large DPM Barrow Cover.
How Darrell Found Success On This Mega Trip
Darrell's called this rig a few names over the last few years; the Combi-Rig Slip D, as well as the Combi Multi-Rig. But the truth is they are one and the same and the name doesn’t really matter. All that matters is that it works!
We can’t reveal the full extent of what Darrell caught but lets just say he had a few! AND they went BIG. Darrell says: “it [Combi Multi-Rig] has the ability to quick change the hook. If you sharpen your hooks like I do, and you’re as fussy as I am, then the hook needs changing all of the time. Most of the time that would mean you need to change the whole rig, but with this you don’t.”
Darrell’s Combi Multi-Rig uses all Korda components, including:
- Wide Gape X (Size 6)
- 25lb Boom Fluorocarbon
- 25lb Dark Matter coated hook link
